- Support
- Information

- Problem-solving
What Is Outreach?
Outreach workers provide school-based counseling
for adolescents and their families. Students may
meet with the Outreach Worker privately before,
during, or after school.
Students are referred to the Outreach Worker by
their Guidance Counselor or by dropping in on the office in the Guidance Department.
Outreach services are confidential, and, except
for certain life-threatening situations, no information
is shared with school or other personnel without
express written permission from the student or his
or her parents.
The Outreach Worker makes referrals to therapy
for students needing additional intervention. These
services are provided by The Human Relations Service (HRS)
or by other practitioners in the communities.
What Kinds of Things
Can I Talk About?
- School stress
- Family problems
- Divorce
- Fears or anxiety
- Conflict with friends
- Break-ups
- Social issues
- Concerns about weight
or body image
- Substance use—your own
or someone else’s
- Anything else that’s on
your mind!
What Have Other
Kids Said?
“Thanks for being there.”
“You’ve helped. Now I don’t need
to come anymore.”
“It’s nice to know there’s someone
you can turn to.”
“Seeing you just once helped me
figure it out myself.”
